Keynote speaker Thomas R. Williams will share his insight on transitions – both professional and personal. We will also have a panel discussing effective networking for furthering your career, as well as a panel discussing personal brand (social media, resume, and Linkedin tips). WILLIAMS X As a Published Author of “Permission To Dream/The Relentless Pursuit of Greatness,” Public Speaker, Guest Lecturer and NFL Player Engagement Ambassador, Thomas R. Williams is “A Professional Reminder.” Known for his engaging presentations, Thomas has a passion to remind companies, organizations and individuals that you don’t have to look for “GREATNESS”, because it’s already inside of you. Thomas graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Sociology. From 2003-2007, Thomas won 2 national championships and 3 Rose Bowls as a linebacker for the Trojans. In 2008 Thomas was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. During his NFL career he also played for the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and the Carolina Panthers. After a career ending neck injury, Thomas shifted his focus from game changer, to changing people’s lives. In 2014 Thomas created, The Relentless Pursuit of Greatness Program which is designed to help student athletes prepare for their transition after their playing career, long before it happens. His program has been adopted by 6 Universities across the country, including USC. FightON! Just two years after his Player Development Program was created, Thomas started his 501c3, Pursuits of Greatness. Where the mission is to prepare student athletes for their professional life after college sports. Pursuits of Greatness does this by providing the student athlete who has exhausted all years of athletic eligibility with a tailored business suit while educating them on “Dressing for Success”, communicating their personal transition to the next stage in their lives. PANEL MODERTOR Alex ParsonsFinancial Advisor, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management X Alex Parsons is a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch. He understands the difficulties of a career transition and the importance of personal branding. An injury ultimately ended his NFL career and forced him to evaluate his next move and “re-invent” his professional identity. Throughout his job transition, he has focused on assisting those going through similar changes with information and connections to industries that interest them. Alex currently serves on the USC Marshall Alumni Association – Orange County Chapter and Trojan Football Alumni Club Boards. Sven JohnstonFounding Partner/Senior Vice President, Gigasavvy X Sven Johnston is a Founding Partner& Senior Vice President for a digital creative marketing agency called Gigasavvy. He has over 20 years of extensive international business development experience including work throughout Germany, South Africa and Australia. He has a passion for moving seemingly impossible projects through to successful completion, even taking on giants like Linkedin. After spearheading a five-month online media campaign in 2009, Sven was able to convince the board of LinkedIn to grant Orange County its own regional location code, which thousands of users utilize everyday. He manages a LinkedIn group called “We Are Orange County!” and it currently has over 8000 members. Michelle AitalaAssociate Director, MBA Career Services Center X As Associate Director in the MBA Career Services Center, Michelle coaches MBA.PM, FTMBA and alumni by providing career related advising in career transition, advancement and personalized job search strategies. Previously, Michelle served as both as a private coach and as a university career counselor for over 15 years. At Lehigh University, she managed the Business Externship program, developed a peer advising program, managed the career center’s workshop program, and designed and led workshops on networking, career portfolios, and internet job searching. Additionally, Michelle worked in the hospitality design industry as an interior designer and project manager for over ten years, coordinating the design and construction of several restaurants in and around Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Resources, a values and integrity-centered workforce solutions company specializing in finance, accounting, information technology and human resources. Joseph is a serial entrepreneur in the human capital sector, a US military veteran, and a certified coach, personnel consultant, and senior professional in human resources. He is pursuing a doctorate degree in Organizational Change and Leadership at the University of Southern California (USC) and graduated summa cum laude from Gonzaga University, earning a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Organizational Transformation. Kelly Rose Pion-CaponeOrganizational Psychology Consultant and Co-Founder at Villa di Strategies 214, Inc. X With a psychology background and a passion for business, Kelly Rose Pion-Capone wants you to be more successful than you ever thought possible. As a graduate of Vanguard University of Southern California with an M.S. in Organizational Psychology and over 25 years of experience, Kelly specializes in leadership, executive coaching, motivation and personal behavior. She, along with her husband, founded Villa di Strategies 214, Inc., an image brand management consulting firm. Kelly has had the privilege of traveling the world while working and immersing herself in various cultures. Chase Gintherformer Staffing Manager at Accountemps X Recruited straight out of USC, Chase joined the world's largest specialized staffing firm and quickly moved up the ranks. Chase was responsible for bringing in the best talent for his clients, screening and interviewing up to 25 candidates per week. He frequently worked with candidates to revise their resumes and LinkedIn profiles in order to maximize their chances with his clients. His passion for sports drove him to switch career paths and he now works for the NFL, helping teams achieve their business and community goals through digital media strategy and optimization.
