Hypnotherapy HQ is proud to present – "Treating a Client for ICE addiction" workshop with Stuart Fenton  This workshop focuses on counselling clients who are abusing or are addicted to crystal methamphetamine. Areas covered: How is working with a crystal meth user different to working with people who use different drugs? What is the terminology and culture in which meth uses operate? What is drug induced psychosis? How do I work with the families connected to an ICE user? What treatment options are available in Victoria and Australia? When is the best time to apply the harm minimisation approach and the abstinence approach? How do you support and treat someone withdrawing from Chrystal Meth? Are you practising enough self-care? ** With a perspective also using Clinical Hypnotherapy** This  workshop begins with psychotherapist Stu Fenton talking about his life as an intravenous crystal meth & GHB addict & describing the journey to becoming a drug and alcohol counsellor and psychotherapist. The session will also include a discussion of ice on how it affects the brain and the body, psychosis, methamphetamine withdrawal, communication culture and terminology, treatment facilities, & how to support families who are dealing with a family member who is addicted to crystal meth. Stuart Fenton is a clinical psychotherapist and counsellor and also a recovered drug addict whose primary drug of choice was Crystal meth amphetamine. Prior to his addictions he was a high school teacher. Since his journey of recovery, Stuart has completed a Graduate Diploma in Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology specialising in Addiction, Self-esteem and Group Work. He then completed a four-year Master's qualification in Gestalt Therapy at the Sydney Gestalt Institute and Gestalt Therapy Sydney. He has worked as a Community Support Worker and Group Facilitator at The WHOS Therapeutic Community for men (Gunyah) for six years as well as working for two years as a Crisis Counsellor and Group Therapist at South Pacific Private Hospital in Sydney. Stuart currently runs a private practice with a focus on addictions, co-dependence, family interventions & sex/love addiction. Recently Stu has also worked at Malvern Private Hospital as a Senior Recovery Therapist as well as at Refocus Drug Treatment Program in Toorak, Melbourne as a group worker and primary therapist. Stuart also works with June Lake from Lakescope Group in Sydney, who facilitate invitational interventions for families who have a drug addict in their family. Stuart currently works at Riverside Clinic – The Sanctuary at Kyneton as a Senior Recovery Counselor. Stu is also training to become an IITAP certified sex addiction therapist. He will complete this area of study in 2018
