SMART Recovery Meeting
Event on 2016-05-23 19:00:00
SMART Recovery® is a worldwide, abstinence-based, non-profit organization that conducts free weekly face-to-face and/or daily online meetings. We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methods to help empower those with addictive behavior to overcome their behavior. Additionally, we teach a variety of helpful tools contained in the SMART Recovery Handbook (such as the Cost/Benefit Analysis, the ABC’s of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Unconditional Self-Acceptance, and role-playing) for use as vehicles to reinforce our 4-Point Program. The SMART 4-Point ProgramSM focuses on (1) enhancing motivation to abstain, (2) coping with urges, (3) managing thoughts, feelings and behaviors and (4) developing a balanced lifestyle. Whether the addiction is alcohol, gambling, drugs, sex, or other behavior, SMART Recovery can be helpful to overcome it. We usually meet in Room 259, when available. Otherwise, check with the 2nd floor circulation desk.
