Shakespeare for Executives Tuesdays, October 4th-November 22, 2016 6:30-9:30pm.  Join us for an exciting exploration of the art of public presentation while developing skills which are invaluable in a business setting – all while having fun and building new friendships. This 8-week basic skills class is for beginners, or those with no formal actor training. Featuring: A high energy hands-on participation workshop The opportunity to learn the fundamental vocabulary of acting A place to develop the essential skills required for presentations and storytelling Lessons on how to devellop body languag and good posture Actor's techniques for the building a strong, supported speaking voice The chance to meet new people and have fun in a low-pressure environment! Workshop activities include: Improvisational exercises that focus on developing your impulses, positive energy, humour, and playfulness. Storytelling exercises to help build clarity and precision in your communications Voice and speech methods to help overcome fear and tension Exploring actors' techniques for character development Understanding how to critically examine a text The opportunity to prepare a speech or monologue for presentation Individual coaching from Shakespeare in Action's Artistic Director, Michael Kelly Learn how to prepare for a theatre audition or for a formal speaking engagement We believe creativity is the most important transferable skill. This workshop is meant for adult beginners and focuses on communication through voice and speech development, role-playing, storytelling, theatre games and experiential activities that provide participants with strategies to be spontaneous, take risks, and adapt to new ideas. Participants will enhance the clarity, impact and credibility of their public speaking and infuse speeches and presentations with personal style, authenticity and passion.
