9/14/2016- 4/26/2017; Weekly, 12:10pm-1:00pm Psi Chi will hold weekly meetings starting 9/14/2016 to stimulate discussion in all psychological fields every wednesday during common hour. We will have discussions on anything psychology related. The whole Pace community is invited. Anyone who has an interest in psychology is welcomed to attend. Dr. Mercedes McCormick will lead our discussions each week. This event is open to the whole Pace Community. Speaker Bio/Movie Bio (if applicable): Mercedes A. McCormick, Ph.D. is Licensed Psychologist, Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology and Coordinator of the MA program in General Psychology at Pace University in New York City. Dr. McCormick obtained her Ph.D. degree in Family and Marriage Therapy at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. She also received a Masters Degree in School Psychology from Pace University and a MA degree in school counseling from Hunter College. She is trained in family therapy, yoga therapy and mindfulness meditation. She has worked as a school psychologist in Jersey City Public Schools for several years. Currently she is in private practice in NYC and teaches courses at Pace University to graduate and undergraduate students in social psychology, learning theory, and developmental psychology across the life span. Her scholarly interests has centered on creativity in young children, family issues adjustment to spinal cord injury, yoga therapy for chronic illness and depression and recovering from a CVA-significant health stressor. Most recently her research interests has focused on teaching techniques applied to international psychology and multimedia technologies as well as investigating interpersonal violence and digital dating violence. Her scholarly work has been presented at various regional, national, and international psychology conferences including the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA), NYSPA Division of Women’s’ Issues, New York Academy of Sciences, National Institute of Rehabilitation Psychologists in Las Vegas, Association of Family Medicine Physician, and American Psychological Association convention.
