Event on 2017-06-29 11:00:00
Join Northbound and BISKIDS for an Inspiring Event Dedicated to the Healing of Children and their Families "The Healing Journey for Children" Presented by Jerry Moe, National Director of Children's Programs at the Betty Ford Center, a part of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation "Today this is my hope. Children from families hurt by alcoholism and other drug addiction can find a path to help and healing. They can change the legacy in their families. Come learn about effective tools, strategies, and techniques to make a real difference in the life of a child." BIS KIDS is an evidence based proactive prevention program against drugs and alcohol use. The program is an inter-active 2 day workshop for children 7-12 years of age. We use age-appropriate language, games, prizes, music, art, role playing, stories videos and fun to educate children about addiction and the important life skills they need to overcome adversity and promote a drug free lifestyle. Parents and families are invited to join us on the second day and are encouraged to participate in a group workshop with their children. Skilled counselors lead all the group sessions and trained assistants help with program activities. "BIS KIDS" Believe in Success Kids encourages children to create a path to good health and well-being. We teach children skills that promote a drug free future. For more information about BISKIDS go to  Learning Objectives: After completing this workshop participants will successfully be able to: 1) state the healing stages for children from addicted families; 2) share two strategies to engage youth in the healing process; 3) explain two important messages for children which enhance their recovery process.
